Merry Christmas!

I will be taking some vacation starting this afternoon after a work Sushi lunch (YAY) and will need to BEGIN my Christmas Shopping soon after. I wanted to say a quick Merry Christmas to anyone passing by my blog during the Holiday Season. I hope you all get to spend some time with your loved ones and are able to enjoy this time of year.

Be safe and all the best for the New Year!

Love, MelMac oxoxox

Work Christmas Party 2013

Some of you love them, some of you hate them, but like it or not Christmas Party time has arrived and is in full swing! I had my work "Holiday" party this past weekend and I wanted to share my getting ready process and show you the dress that I hinted at in my last post.

A co-worker recommended that I try Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs to give my legs a pantyhose look without actually wearing them (hate the pantyhose). I tried this easy to use spray in Light Glow and here is a picture of one leg with and one with out. The right is the one with the spray and it does look smoother. The spray stayed on all night too, through dancing and everything. I would definitely use this again to give my pale Winter legs a smoother look.

Oh boy this is scary! No make up and half hair straight, half in a really creepy side ponytail. Just keeping it real y'all! This is what we all really look like before we are camera ready, so there you have it!

My other "trick" of the night, Dr. Scholl's For Her High Heel insoles. They don't take away the sore feet but they definitely help.

Hair and makeup done. If you would like a video of what I used to get this look let me know in the comments.

Voila! Christmas Party ready!
Dress: Dynamite (new), this dress was ALL sequins. I really liked the long sleeves too.
Shoes: Nine West (old)

I bailed on the work party around 11:30PM and met up with Amanda at a Birthday Party.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Holiday Season, parties and all. Please make sure to be safe and don't DRINK and DRIVE.

Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

This weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada where we get together to have a big Turkey dinner and give thanks for all that we are grateful for in our lives. I traveled to Kingston to spend the Holiday with my Mom and I was very grateful for the beautiful weather we had.

Here is a quick recap of my long weekend:
On Saturday morning my Mom and I met a friend of her's and her dog for a long walk along the water. There's a hidden gem in Kingston behind the DuPont plant -of all places - to enjoy the lovely view across Lake Ontario and is a great place to let your dog frolic to it's heart's content.

 Panoramic shot of the beach.
We ran into various dog walkers and the dogs all played together and had tons of fun while we chatted. That first almost wolf-like looking dog in the above pic was a rescue from 13 years ago and she was happy, healthy and lovely. Makes me want to have a rescue pup as well!

You know you are in Canada when you see random Inukshuks. I love seeing these!

My Mom's friend's dog, Danny. He's the same breed as Toto from the Wizard of Oz, a Cairn Terrier. What a happy little fella!

This is a distant picture taken of a lady who has swam in the lake from May to October every day for 13 years! She might have been in her 60's and looked incredible by the way....
Old stone BBQ

And now on to the food!

I had back-to-back Turkey dinners to attend this year so I was making an effort to eat really clean and healthy before the feasts. This is roasted red pepper hummus my Mom made and some veggies for lunch.

Sunday morning breakfast was multigrain french toast. Indulging can still be nutritious! These were homemade and AH-MAZING!

Turkey Dinner at my Mom's: green beans sauteed with butter and almonds, roasted sweet potatoes with brown sugar, cranberry stuffing, turkey breast, some onions that were roasted with the turkey thrown on top and mashed potatoes with gravy. This was as good as it looked.

I didn't get any pictures of dinner #2, mostly because I was busy sort of co-hosting with my Roommate for about 14 people. But it was just as delicious! I zipped to the washroom during the evening and all I could hear were people laughing, talking loudly and just having a fabulous time. Sure sign that your company enjoyed themselves ;-)

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Love,

MelMac oxoxoxo

OOTD Collage

Outfit
Tights: Lysee
Boots: Nine West
Purse: Nine West
Jacket: Agent 99 (Kingston, seen here and here)
Necklace: Unknown, I've had it forever!

How's everyone's week going? This upcoming Monday is the Canadian Thanksgiving and I will be headed to Kingston to spend the weekend with my Mom and enjoy her fabulous cooking. I've always really loved Thanksgiving because it is a Holiday that is just about spending time with Friends & Family while enjoying a belt busting meal then taking a nap. No presents, no pressure - my kind of Holiday.

Speaking of belt busting, these Lysee leggings that I have on today are the perfect option to wear for Thanksgiving. They have a high-waisted tummy control and are super comfy so you can eat until you burst and not have to undo your pants. Wearing skinny jeans during a big meal is not how I roll :-)

Lysee tights aren't cheap - mine were $80 CDN, bought online last year - but they have worn really well, are thick and haven't lost their shape. You can dress them up with a nice top or sweater, add some boots and you are good to go.

What are your plans for the weekend, Thanksgiving or otherwise?

Vancouver - July 2013 Recap 1

I have returned from one my best visits to Vancouver that I have ever had! My Dad, 3 older Sisters and my little Brother all reside in and around the Vancouver area so I try to visit them when I can. It's so hard to be so far away from Family! This post will be picture heavy so you can continue on after the jump.

This visit was AWESOME

I left last Saturday and landed in Vancouver around 8PM local time -  I had the luck to sit next to the stinkiest guy on the plane for the better part of 5 hours - UGH! Two of my Sisters and my Niece picked me up at the airport and we headed over to Angela's place for some apps and to relax. My body clock was 3 hours ahead so we kept it chill and I tried to get a good night's sleep because in the morning we were headed to Whistler!

Six hour layover in the Toronto Airport

 Still waiting......*sigh*

The next morning we picked up some food and got ourselves organized to hop on the Sea to Sky Highway, one of the most picturesque and breathtaking drives in the world.

*As a side note, all of my readers know I LOVES to eat! I have three very important meals that I HAVE to have every time I am on the left coast:

1) White Spot burger - Triple O Sauce is the draw
2) Fish & Chips - Halibut is my fav which you can rarely find in Ontario
3) Sushi! - Nuff said

So we crossed the first item off my list my stopping at a White Spot on the way to Whistler in beautiful Squamish, BC.

Angela had organized this whole trip to Whistler including the hotel, the dinner and a terrifying but thrilling Zip Line Tour, provided by Zip Trek Eco Tours - more on that in a minute.

We arrived at the Delta Suites in the afternoon and checked into our suite which was SWEET! We were at the end off the hall so we had front and back balconies, a full kitchen, a living room a bedroom and bathroom and a whole separate other bedroom and bathroom as well. Much needed when you have 4 women in the same hotel room!

We walked around the village, relaxed and made our own cheese and meat plate with wine and it was truly BLISS!

The next day we were up early to get ready to Zip Trek over Whistler Mountain. I have to admit, I don't love heights so I was a little nervous but excited to be outside my comfort zone. I kept telling myself "This is a once in a lifetime experience, so enjoy it!"

We arrived on the mountain and got geared up.

My Sister Bonni, me and Lolly - We are ready!

Happy 4th to Our US Friends!

I hope all of my wonderful US readers have a great Independence Day! I have traveled all over the US and even lived Virginia for a brief time; I so enjoy each visit to the Unites States. They are so proud of their country and welcoming to their neighbors in the North.

Not wearing stars for today's outfit but I do have on stripes!

Top: Tommy Hilfiger, seen here
Skirt: Ricki's, seen here and here
Bracelets: Mexico, seen here

One thing I learned about Americans, they really know how to BBQ! While in Virginia we had a Pot Luck almost every week at work. Now this isn't a Pot Luck where everyone just brings potato salad and calls it a day. Oh no....people brought in BBQs and Grills to set up in the parking lot, slow cooked baked beans, enormous bowls of banana and bread pudding and loads of sweet tea (not like regular iced tea). It would turn into a full on tail-gating PAR-TAY!

Canada Day Fun

Here's peak at what my Canada Day was like. For those of you not residing in Canada, click here for more info about our Nation's Birthday!

 Baby Yoga anyone?

Woot Woot! Hands in the air, wave'em like you just don't care!

Fire pit that was put in last year. Yes, I am a very lucky girl to live here.

Busting out some Canada Day moves!

Hat was $2 and bathing suit cover-up $12 at Giant Tiger, what a bargain.

Again, so fortunate!

I am so disappointed that I didn't get any pics of the food but that's because it was gone as soon as it was served!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!

Love,
Melmac xoxoxoxox
