A Perfect Summer's Eve

My Roomies and I partook in a local fair at the Rideau Carleton Raceway on a beautiful August evening. This was very "Summer" for me as it took me back to going to fairs as a kid and the evening was warm with a soft hazy light that was something out of a novel. Some of the above pics have a filter applied but the third from the top doesn't and you can see what the light was like.

It was so nostalgic seeing that the same rides and games are still kicking from 20 years ago and it was nice to see families out and about enjoying some good old fashion fun. I don't know how often I see families while I am out and they are all starting at their smart phones rather than interacting with each other; kinda sad but it's the world we live in now I guess. Events that bring us back down to earth like this fair (I hope) will never fade away as they are needed now more than ever!

On a side note I know that I have been seriously slacking with my posts as of late. This is mostly due to some changes in the settings of our work computers that is inhibiting my ability to upload  and edit photos. But I have some pictures stock piled and will take more of some clothing purchases I have made, one of which is a jumper (or are they called a romper?) which is something I never thought I would buy.

Hope you are all enjoying these last days of Summer!

Summer is Finally Here!

I know some of you may not agree with this but I LOVE this heat! I long for these types of hot humid days in the dead of winter when I am scrapping off my car, swearing all the while :)

I don't have too much to post about as the majority of the weekend I did this.....

LOL!

I did manage to peel myself away from sunbathing to go out for drinks and dinner with some girlfriends on Sunday evening. We headed to Moxie's in Orleans to celebrate a birthday. Moxie's is a chain restaurant in Canada that offers a chic funky atmosphere and a variety of apps and main dishes to choose from. It's a great place to go to for after work drinks.

I will have to say I wasn't totally pleased with this visit to Moxie's. I get it.... people (men especially) don't really go there for the food. The waitresses are all gorgeous and that's the main attraction so you should know that going in. We had to send an entree back (burnt) and some wine (musky tasting) so that was a disappointment.

Even so, my meal was pretty decent. I ordered off their Summer Menu and got the Linguine Arrabiata With Pancetta & Lemon Mascarpone. The chorizo sausage added spice and the tomato-lemon undertone was a nice flavor. Mixing in the mascarpone made the dish creamy but still light tasting. Overall, about a 7 out of 10, I can make better pasta at home ;-)

I wanted something light to wear as it was so hot, too hot to sit outside even. So I went for this dress that I first wore on my trip to Prince Edward County. It's easy to throw on and very light. I had my hair cut & highlighted on the weekend so it was straight, which was hard to maintain with this humidity!

Dress: Vero Moda
Shoes: Aerosoles, seen here
Clutch: Le Chateau
Sunglasses: Coach
Necklace: Dynamite (seen too many times to mention!)

Overall, it was a pretty relaxing lazy Summer weekend. What did you get up to this weekend, how did you beat this heat? Would love to hear from you!

Canada Day Fun

Here's peak at what my Canada Day was like. For those of you not residing in Canada, click here for more info about our Nation's Birthday!

 Baby Yoga anyone?

Woot Woot! Hands in the air, wave'em like you just don't care!

Fire pit that was put in last year. Yes, I am a very lucky girl to live here.

Busting out some Canada Day moves!

Hat was $2 and bathing suit cover-up $12 at Giant Tiger, what a bargain.

Again, so fortunate!

I am so disappointed that I didn't get any pics of the food but that's because it was gone as soon as it was served!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!

Love,

Basic Button Down Dress

Don't you love it when you approach your closet with no idea what to wear, push aside some hangers and  VOILA! Something magically appears that you totally forgot you owned!

Well that happened to me this morning and I couldn't have been more pleased to have re-discovered this basic black button down dress from Calvin Klein.

Dress: Old, Calvin Klein
Belt: came with the dress
Shoes: Novellino in Kingston Ontario

For my Birthday a couple of years ago my friends, that I have known since grade school, took me on a Shopping Trip to the Waterloo Premium Outlets, located in Waterloo New York. At the time I was unemployeed and had some reservations about spending money on clothes or anything that wasn't a necessity. However, I really needed some fun to lift my spirits and time with girlfriends can cure just about anything, so off we went. While shopping, I tried on this dress and immediately thought it would be perfect to wear to my potential future new job that I hadn't been hired for yet. Hopeful thinking!

But my responsible side took over and I walked out the change room thinking, "hmmm... no, I better not". Since I have THE BEST girlfriends ever they all pitched in and bought the dress for me as a Birthday present. How sweet is that?!

So not only is this dress super stylish and easy to wear (no SPANX required), it has a sentimental value to boot. I can't believe that I had forgotten it but glad that we are reunited!
